WORKSHOPS

Spinners Haven offers a range of workshops – both private – and in conjunction with the Armidale Spinners & Weavers Group Inc.  The Armidale Spinners & Weavers Group Inc meet every Thursday from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm and 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, back at the Armidale Showground on Dumaresq Street, Armidale.   Membership of the Armidale Spinners & Weavers Group Inc. is $50.00 per year for adults and $30.00 per year for school children.  Wheels and Looms are available for hire to financial members.

In 2019 we will be offering limited workshops (due to the temporary accommodation) from the very simple “Weave-It” looms up to 4 shaft weaving, felting and dyeing workshops  – interested in a particular workshop?  Beginner Spinning Workshop – Saturday 24th August from 9:30am – 4:30 pm and Saturday 31st August from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm where you will also be invited to join in our annual dyeing day.   Bring your own lunch – morning and afternoon teas provided – microwave available.  Cost for members – $50.00,  for non-members $80.00.  Bring your own wheel and fibres, or you can use a Club wheel and purchase specific fibres to use. Limited numbers.   Learn how to spin and then consider joining the Club for your social contacts.    Please contact me.

NEXT WORKSHOP:

Next workshop being offered by the Armidale Spinners & Weavers Group Inc: Is a Beginner Spinning Workshop – 25-26th May 2019.  Tutor is Merryn Twemlow.  

Venue:  Club Rooms starting at 9:30 am both days.

You will need:  You will need a spinning wheel and fibres – or can use a club wheel and fibres will be available at a small cost.   You will need to bring your own lunch – morning and afternoon teas will be provided.

Application Forms are required for all Workshops, together with a tutorial fee of $50.00 for Armidale members and $80.00 for outsiders – please contact Secretary, Robyn Ellis, 6775 2103.  Please confirm your interest by 17th August, 2019 so we know how many wheels to provide.  You may also bring your own wheel.

Don’t feel confident about joining a group as a beginner?  Ask me about a private lesson to get you started and confident to join others, or just to do it at home.  You will learn the basics on an easy to operate wheel and some wool knowledge along the way!!

Members frequently travel to Spinning/Weaving Retreats in Southern Queensland and Northern NSW.  Application forms are available.
